Privacy and cookies

Quorum is run by Swiss Alpine Escapes SA, Rue de l’Eglise 2a, 1270 Trelex, Switzerland. We are the controller of the data described here. Swiss data protection law (the FADP) applies to everything we do; if you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR applies to you as well, and this policy is written to meet both. Write to privacy@quorum.day about any of it.

Playing without an account

You can play every day without telling us who you are. The first time you play, your browser makes up a random identifier and keeps it. When you open and finish a board we store, against that identifier: the board number, when the clock started, your time, how many hints you used, and the country the request came from as a two-letter code supplied by the hosting provider, never an IP address. That is what runs the day’s ranking, verifies that a time is real, and allows lines like “faster than most of Switzerland today”. The identifier is not linked to you, your device or any other site, and nothing in it identifies you to us.

An account, if you want one

Signing in with Google is optional. It exists so that your streak, your record and your Club membership follow you from one device to another. When you sign in, Google tells us your email address and a provider identifier, and we link them to your player identifier. We do not receive your Google password and we do not post or read anything on your behalf. You can sign out at any time; signing out on a device removes the session from that device only.

Club

Payments are taken by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, on their own pages. Your card details go to them, never to us. From them we receive the state of your subscription: the plan, whether it is active, the renewal date, the email address used at checkout and an identifier for the subscription, which is what lets the site know you are a member. We keep those records for as long as accounting law requires, which is ten years in Switzerland.

Reminders and emails

Push reminders are sent only if you press the button that asks for them. To send one we store the subscription your browser hands us, your timezone offset so it arrives at eight in your morning, and the last board you were told about. Turn them off from your account page or your browser settings and the subscription is deleted.

The weekly digest is sent only if you tick the box on your account page, and we record the moment you did. Every digest carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works without signing in. We send no other marketing email. Emails are delivered by Resend.

Cookies and what your browser keeps

Quorum sets one cookie and uses your browser’s local storage for the rest. None of it is used for tracking, none of it follows you to other sites, and none of it needs your consent under Swiss or EU law because each item is required for something you asked the site to do. We tell you anyway.

Lemon Squeezy’s checkout pages set their own cookies under their own policy. The installed app, if you add Quorum to your home screen, keeps the same items and nothing more.

Analytics

We use Vercel’s own web analytics and speed measurements to count page views, see which pages are slow, and count how many people get from one step of the game to the next: how many start a board, finish one, share a result. They set no cookies, assign you no identifier, and cannot follow you to any other site; we see totals, never individuals. The only detail recorded alongside a step is the board number, which is the same for everyone that day. There is no advertising here and no third-party tracker of any kind.

Who processes it

We share nothing with anyone else, and we sell nothing to anyone.

On what basis

Running the game, verifying times and keeping the service secure rest on our legitimate interest in operating it. Club rests on the contract you enter when you subscribe. Reminders and the digest rest on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from your account page. In the terms of the FADP, all of it is processing that a person would expect from a game they chose to play.

How long

Board records are kept while the ranking for that board is meaningful and no longer than 24 months. Account data is kept while the account exists. Subscription records are kept as accounting law requires. Push subscriptions are deleted when you turn reminders off or when a push service tells us the subscription is gone.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or have it deleted. If you have an account, write from the address you signed in with. If you play without one, the record is pseudonymous and we need the identifier to find it; you can also clear it yourself at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which permanently disconnects you from past boards. Write to privacy@quorum.day. You may also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, or, if you are in the EU or the UK, to your own data protection authority.

Children

Quorum is not aimed at children and asks for no personal data to play. Club requires an adult to pay.
